On the occasion of Shivratri, I would like to wish everyone a happy mahashivratri. Many people in this world celebrate this day by offering milk to Lord Shiva. But do you know the reason why it is considered to be such an auspicious day? It is believed that Lord Shiva, who is also known as Natraaj had performed his cosmic dance on this day to control the five activities of the universe; creation, protection, destruction, illusion, and grace. Other popular beliefs also suggest Lord Shiva appeared in the form of the Linga on the midnight of Maha Shivratri, and hence, this day is also celebrated as Shiva's birthday.
